Abstract
To help tourism managers and policymakers extend the duration of stay in a religious tourist destination while providing chances to expand the tourism circuit, we have developed a two-step methodology. Using the multi-criteria decision-making methodology of the analytic hierarchy process, the framework prioritizes viable strategies in the first step. The second step proposes a subsidy allocation procedure based on the cooperative game-theoretic solution procedure of weighted Shapley value to develop the underdeveloped locations in the tourism circuit to handle increased tourist demand. The application of the two-step paradigm to the Rameswaram tourism circuit in Ramanathapuram, Tamil Nadu, India, demonstrates the system's usefulness. Globalized competition has accelerated in this competitive era, and nations like India choose to attract foreign investment in this drive for progress. Tourism serves as the master key to all services for this reason. Compared to other services, tourism has a higher potential to create jobs and earn significant foreign cash. As a result, research on the Indian tourism sector is now necessary. The town of Ramanathapuram is home to the district headquarters. The district's borders are as follows: Gulf of Mannar on the south, Palk Strait on the east, Virudhunagar District on the northwest, Sivagangai District on the north, and Pudukottai District on the northeast. On the west lies Thoothukudi District. Because the River Vaigai terminates its voyage in the district in the Palk Strait, Ramanathapuram is also known as Mugavai, which means "face" in Tamil. Recent statistics show that the tourism industry is one of the biggest and fastest-growing in the world. In their goals for economic development, many developing countries give top priority to the growth of their tourism sectors. In this study on growth and development of tourism in Ramanathapuram district.
