Abstract
Artificial Intelligence (AI) is reshaping global trade by advancing beyond automation to enable intelligent, adaptive, and interconnected economic systems. This paper examines the integration of AI technologies—such as machine learning, natural language processing, and predictive analytics—into international commerce. Initial AI applications focused on automating tasks like customs clearance and document handling, but today’s systems offer cognitive capabilities that support real-time learning and decision-making. Predictive analytics, in particular, plays a crucial role in forecasting market trends, managing risks, and anticipating supply chain disruptions. Smart logistics, powered by AI, enables dynamic routing, real-time optimization, and proactive resource allocation—enhancing supply chain agility and resilience. However, the rapid adoption of AI presents ethical and operational challenges. Data bias, lack of algorithmic transparency, and unequal access to AI technologies may exacerbate global trade inequalities, especially for small and developing economies. These risks highlight the urgent need for inclusive digital policies and robust governance frameworks. The paper concludes that while AI offers transformative potential for global trade, realizing its full benefits requires ethical safeguards, equitable access, and crosssector collaboration. Building fair and transparent AI systems is essential to ensure that the digital transformation of trade supports long-term sustainability and shared prosperity.
