Organic farming in India is an ancient practice which has raised for increasing demands for organic foods. As more people become conscious about their foods and families health benefits, organic foods have received more significance. Organic agriculture is a holistic production management system which promotes and enhances agro-ecosystem health, including biodiversity, biological cycles and soil biological activity. In recent years, there is an increase in the use of advanced methods and softwares in the organic farming. The same way the organic farming also face many constraints apart from the benefits. To encourage the production, transportation, storage and processing of organic goods, the government has also introduced a number of programmes and regulations for organic growers. Therefore, it is important to view sustainability in organic farming from a holistic viewpoint that takes into account ecological, economic, and social factors. In this chapter, have explained the concepts and recent techniques used in organic farming and their benefits and challenges.
