Abstract
Nanoparticles, characterized by dimensions ranging from one to one hundred nanometers, have emerged as crucial entities across diverse fields such as electronics, medicine, and environmental restoration. The synthesis and manipulation of nanoparticles plays an important role in nanotechnology, presenting both immense potential and responsibilities. Nanotechnology's capacity to revolutionize environmental remediation is examined, focusing on its role in pollutant detection, sensing, and innovative cleanup techniques. A significant contribution of nanotechnology is witnessed in microbial-mediated remediation, where nanoparticles synthesized by microorganisms through nanobiotechnology, known as nano-bioremediation, are employed. These bio nanoparticles, created by bacteria, fungi, yeast, actinomycetes, and algae, offer environmentally benign, cost-effective, and eco-friendly solutions for contaminant eradication. This chapter explores into the various methods of bioremediation, such as bio-stimulation, bioaugmentation, and natural recovery, and emphasizes the potential of nanotechnology in addressing the challenges posed by synthetic pollutants.
