Abstract
Pesticides application in modern agriculture has become a global concern due to their potential to cause extensive environmental damage. This study provides a comprehensive review of the impacts of pesticide usage on environmental ecosystems such as soil, water, air and biodiversity. It explores the mechanisms by which pesticides enter and disperse in the different components of the environment, as well as their persistence and interactions. However, this chapter discusses the current regulatory frameworks aimed at mitigating the environmental impacts of pesticides and emphasizes the need for eco-friendly management strategies such as the bioremediation approach and integrated pest management strategies that minimize environmental footprints. Through this assessment, it aims to provide a detailed understanding of the environmental impacts of pesticide use and advocate for the development and adoption of sustainable agricultural practices.
