Abstract
Water and soil are essential components of the natural world. Its effective management is necessary for food, fibre, and other essentials as well as for economic growth and development. The extensive effects of population growth resulted in soil and water loss, notwithstanding agricultural productivity. The main contributors to soil erosion and environmental degradation include overgrazing, deforestation, and poor agricultural land management. Also, climate change is deteriorating the situation by causing water scarcity globally. Various agricultural techniques for conserving water and soil have been practised so far. A sustainable intensification plan can be created via conservation agriculture (CA) using a systems approach to soil and water conservation. Some studies show that conservation techniques for water and soil demonstrate sustainable agriculture. Zero tillage, mulching, and intercropping conserve soil and water and increase yield. Furthermore, crop intensification, farmer education, and enhanced production techniques might be the most critical concerns facing the agriculture sector to ensure a sustainable future with less influence on the environment.
